Where501 Starr Avenue
John Glidden's December 22, 2025 reporting described GVRD's recreation reuse of the former Franklin Middle School under a lease. The district proposes basketball and pickleball courts, a play area, synthetic and natural-turf fields, and picnic facilities at 501 Starr Avenue. Its March 2, 2026 announcement reported $7.5 million in state funding; Glidden's earlier account cited $7 million, a difference the reviewed sources do not explain. An October 8 staff update says plans were resubmitted to the Division of the State Architect on August 7; the design team is addressing first-round comments and working through Vallejo Flood and Wastewater District permit requirements. September committee minutes raised concerns about changed plans and outdated public project information. The facilities list remains proposed; final permit approval, construction start and opening are unconfirmed.
